Homegrown Natural Foods, headquartered in Napa, CA, was formed in 1999 as a platform to consolidate and grow branded companies in the natural foods industry. In October 2000, Caltius provided $7 million of senior subordinated notes to help HomeGrown acquire Napa Valley Kitchens and Fantastic Foods.
In August 2002, HomeGrown sold its original brand, Annie's Homegrown, to Solera Capital, the proceeds of which were used to repay senior debt and a portion of Caltius' investment. In July 2004, Solera Capital acquired Napa Valley Kitchens and Fantastic Foods from Homegrown and Caltius' investment was fully realized.
